One DIY project I did for the room was to cover the lime green closet doors that our landlord had painted. The room is currently blue and we figured we could live with that for a while but the doors had to go. With a trip to Ikea one weekend I picked up some fabric and started wrapping the doors. Yes, I wrapped the door sin fabric and it was magical.
Little did I know then how well the grey would work out since we are in fact doing a yellow and grey nursery!
I'm really excited about the nursery theme and thought long and hard about all the details. I knew I wanted something modern, clean and fresh but I also wanted it to be simple and cozy enough for a babys room. Here are all the ideas I have had for the room for months and what we will actually start putting into place this weekend!
The original idea for yellow and grey came from my own head but of course I took to google images for some initial inspiration. Yellow and grey is pretty bold for a nursery after all. This was the first images I found and knew I wasn't crazy.

Paint color-
Universal Grey- Glidden
Universal Grey on the walls for inspiration
Even though the original paint is by Glidden the paint will be made into a Behr Ultra Premium Paint and all the trim in the room will be painted a crisp bright white to really make the grey pop. We have huge white shutters in the room so I know it will look really great with the combo.
Crib and bedding-
This is our crib! Pottery Barn sleigh crib in espresso
The bedding is still a work in progress but I love the prints Dwell makes and I found an etsy shop that makes crib bedding out of the fabric I love! I'm not set on the blanket because it uses the same print as the bumper on one side and then reverses to the flower print you see in the photo... but I love the bumper and the overall colors of course.
Changing table-
We decided early on that we wanted to have the changing table be the dresser. I like the look and I don't think you have to have both a changing table and a dresser when you have a baby. One of these dressers will be coming home with us this weekend, just don't know exactly which one yet till we see them!

Rug-
I know a baby room does not "need" a rug, but with our room I think it will be needed. We have high vaulted ceilings and odd angles all over this room so it can feel disconnected. Plus a crib does not fill up a room like a queen size bed and night stands do. After months of looking for rugs I've narrowed it down to two options and of course one is yellow and one is grey. I will know how much grey is to much grey once the walls are painted for sure.

DIY Window Seat-
One thing we are picking up this weekend is a Expedit bookcase from Ikea in white.
so it can be turned into.....
A DIY window seat
We have a wall heater directly under the shuttered windows. Not exactly the best place for a heater first of all since all the heat goes out the window (sadly most of this house is built that way with all the heaters at the doors and windows) but it's also not the best set up since it does not have a temp gauge. Since we will be using a floor heater so we can monitor the heat I'd love to have a window seat. There will be some baskets placed in the cubbies and books but of course every window seat needs some comfy pillows. Here are a few I've found and will be ordering.

Decor-
With all the fabric being used in the room I really want to make sure the rest of it is clean and simple. I'd love to use a wall decall since we have lots of nooks and crannies in the room but I need to see how dark the grey is going to dry first. I wanted a white tree on the wall with yellow accents but I'm not sure if that will show up as well as I want. It would look like this.

I have loved these pom mobiles from the second I saw them. I love the pop of blue in there with the grey but I'd also add in some yellow as well. I will most likely order a grey, white and yellow one.

Another thing I saw on Etsy while looking for some lamp shade ideas as this lamp. I have some floor lamp bases picked out already that we will see this weekend but this is a great table top lamp for the changing table. The bulb is on the bottom and is super low light so it's perfect for night time check ins.

Wall art and shelves-
Again best place to find the cutest things that are 100% made to order is Etsy. I have found the following prints that I'll frame in crisp white frames all along the walls and nooks and we will have white shelves mounted onto the wall most likely above the changing table. Again don't want anything crazy or to busy so just a few will be placed on the walls.
Being the husby is a professional artist this just seems so fitting and we would of course get it printed in another color

So what do you think? I've had so many of these details bookmarked and sitting patiently in a folder for the past few months. I can't believe it's actually time to start getting them ordered, picking them up and putting them together. So insane how time flys!
